We often arrive at a date physically present but emotionally somewhere else.
Perhaps you rushed from work, struggled through traffic, worried about what to wear, or replayed the disappointment of your last relationship. Then you expect yourself to walk into the room feeling relaxed, confident, and ready to connect.
Give yourself five quiet minutes before the date begins.
Put away your phone. Take several slow breaths. Release the need to impress anyone. Remind yourself that the person you are meeting may be just as nervous as you are.
Then choose how you want to enter the date. Warm. Open. Interested. Playful. Present.
Your emotional energy enters the room before your words do. When you feel guarded, your date feels it. When you are comfortable with yourself, you make it easier for the other person to relax as well.
The small step is to pause before you enter.
You do not have to be dazzling. You only have to be emotionally available enough to let someone meet the real you.
