Are you dating as a single mom or dad? When your children are first meeting your new sweetheart, be sure to keep your romance low-key in front of them. Avoid displays of affection such as kissing and hand-holding the first few times you all are together. During these early interactions, the kids should see the new person as a friend to their parent, not a love interest for you. This helps to keep things non-threatening for the children and gives them time to form bonds with the new person. Additionally, the dates that include the kids should be “child” dates, not adult ones, so do something the children will enjoy (movies, bowling, going out for pizza). This way, they’ll have fun and be excited to see your new love again!
